JVC DLA-NZ8 - JVC INTRODUCES WORLD'S FIRST LASER POWERED 8K HOME THEATRE PROJECTORS
JVC DLA-NZ8

At a recent launch at the Audio Visual Designs Showroom in Kuala Lumpur JVC introduced a trio of what is said to be the world’s first laser powered, 8k front projection system.

Comprising the top of the range model DLA-NZ9 which retails for RM119,999, the middle model DLA-NZ8 which goes for RM76,999 and the anchor model the DLA-NZ7 which can be had for RM54,999 all three units feature JVC’s proprietary 8k/e-shift and BLU-Escent laser technology.

According to Steven Woo of Klinger & Erlesen Sdn Bhd the importer of JVC home theatre projectors into Malaysia the three models though representing three cost performances levels share many new similar features which are designed to enable them to effectively reproduce exceptionally bright, sharp and precise images on very large screens.

For example, Woo pointed out that top of the range DLA-NZ9 is capable of producing a very bright light output in excess of 3,000 lumens, while the DLA-NZ8 can easily produce 2,500 lumens. Even the base DLA-NZ7 is capable of producing a more than respectable 2,200 lumens.

Similarly all three models, being laser powered have exceptionally long light source life in excess of 20,000 hours.

Most lamp based projectors, depending on usage, normally last between 2,000 – 4,000 hours before the lamps need to be replaced.

During the launch ceremony where all three JVC projectors were put through their paces, firing onto screens ranging from 120 – 160 inches wide, the common winning features observed were the exceptional brightness, colour accuracy picture detail
and a picture contrast that make what we were watching frighteningly real and
palpable.

Dick Tan is one of the longest serving member of the audio-video industry having spent close to 45 years in it. Tan started in the mid 70s working in audio showrooms and writing for fledgling audio magazines in the country.

“I have been through turntables to open reel and cassette tape decks to amplifiers and speakers in that golden era of hi-fi to the sophistication of today's digital audio and AV components such as Bluray and UHD Bluray discs players to streamers and beyond. In the end they all have one common goal … to achieve audio and video in the best, most efficient way possible.”

The other 'hat' that Tan wears, at least once each year, is that of the organiser of the AV Show which started in 1994. The KL International AV Show has been consistently held every year since for the last 26 record breaking years.
