We were just informed that one of the most well regarded luminaries of the audio industry, Brian Russell, President of Bryston, Canada has just passed away in his sleep.  He was 68 years old.

A bear of a man yet highly affable and friendly, Brian was a regular in this part of the world whenever a new Bryston product was launched.  He had this knack for explaining away what appears to be complicated Bryston audio technologies in simple lay terms.  That perhaps explains his popularity with the local audio press here in Malaysia.  RIP Brian, you will be sorely missed.

Bryston is based in Ontario, Canada and was founded in 1962 by John Russell, Brian’s father, a former NASA engineer.

Bryston was successfully helmed by the Russell brothers, Chris, John and until his sad recent passing, Brian.   James Tanner along time family friend is the VP of Sales and marketing.

Dick Tan is one of the longest serving member of the audio-video industry having spent close to 45 years in it. Tan started in the mid 70s working in audio showrooms and writing for fledgling audio magazines in the country.

“I have been through turntables to open reel and cassette tape decks to amplifiers and speakers in that golden era of hi-fi to the sophistication of today's digital audio and AV components such as Bluray and UHD Bluray discs players to streamers and beyond. In the end they all have one common goal … to achieve audio and video in the best, most efficient way possible.”

The other 'hat' that Tan wears, at least once each year, is that of the organiser of the AV Show which started in 1994. The KL International AV Show has been consistently held every year since for the last 26 record breaking years.
