TAIWAN’S TAA HI-END AUDIO SHOW 2020 TO PROCEED

The TAA Hi-End Audio Show 2020 in Taiwan is likely the first hi-fi show to be organised since Covid-19 forced the shutdown of show events the world over.

Amidst the news of gloom and doom that has permeated just about every sector of the business world in the grip of the Covid-19 pandemic we were surprised to learn the organisers of Taiwan’s TAA Hi-End Audio Show has made the brave decision to proceed with this year’s 30th TAA Hi-End Audi Show 2020. The Show is to be held at the Grand Hotel, Taipei on September from 10-13.

According to Vincent Chang of the organising team, the 30th TAA Hi-End Audio Show will be held under strict, controlled safety conditions.

Although Chang did not elaborate, we take that to mean that strict social distancing and face masks will be mandatory. And as all travellers to Taiwan should be subject to some form of quarantine it would appear that Taiwanese audiophiles and music lovers are expected to make up the bulk of the visitors.

We wish the organisers every success in their undertaking and hopefully the success of the Show should set a model example of how to safely organise a hi-fi show in a Pandemic situation.

The TAA Hi-End Audio Show is one of the largest running international audio and video event well known for its wide reflection of high end audio exhibit.

Dick Tan is one of the longest serving member of the audio-video industry having spent close to 45 years in it. Tan started in the mid 70s working in audio showrooms and writing for fledgling audio magazines in the country.

“I have been through turntables to open reel and cassette tape decks to amplifiers and speakers in that golden era of hi-fi to the sophistication of today's digital audio and AV components such as Bluray and UHD Bluray discs players to streamers and beyond. In the end they all have one common goal … to achieve audio and video in the best, most efficient way possible.”

The other 'hat' that Tan wears, at least once each year, is that of the organiser of the AV Show which started in 1994. The KL International AV Show has been consistently held every year since for the last 26 record breaking years.
